Commemorating 125 Years

Past, present, and future converged during UChicago’s 125th anniversary

The year 2015 marked the 125th anniversary of the University of Chicago’s founding, in 1890. To commemorate this milestone, the University held a series of lectures, panels, and other events over Autumn Quarter 2015, under the unifying theme “125 Years of Inquiry and Impact.”

Faculty Advisory Committee guided the commemoration with input from the campus community. The anniversary events aimed to highlight the intellectual contributions and historical achievements within and across divisions, schools, and units, and engage our entire campus community—faculty, students, staff, and visitors—as well as our alumni and friends.
