Conversations with the Collection: Memory

Conversations with the Collection: Memory
September 12, 2015–January 10, 2016

As the University of Chicago reflected upon its 125-year history, the Smart Museum of Art presented an experimental installation on the theme of Memory that explored art's relationship to the recollection of personal and cultural histories, nostalgia, and other facets of memory.

The collection-based project mixed works from across cultures and eras, from ancient Chinese oracle bones to Antony Gormley's Infinite Cube (2014).

Presented in the Elisabeth and William M. Landes Gallery, Janis Kanter and Thomas McCormick Gallery, Edward A. and Inge Maser Gallery, and Robert and Joan Feitler Gallery.
